ST. AUGUSTINE BASED SURF PHOTOGRAPHER CODY COLEMAN GIVES A LOOK AT THE HURRICANE IRMA & JOSE SWELL HERE IN FLORIDA
Hurricane Irma gives the Oldest City a good old beating while delivering pumping surf
Well... it's been an eventful month to say the least. After spending 2 weeks in Costa Rica with a couple of close friends scoring perfect waves, we came home to what looked like a category 5 hurricane coming close to hitting our little city. I immediately had to start emptying my office & helping people prep for what looked like something very ugly. Being a week out Irma decided to take a more west track and spared us a direct hit. We did however suffer some severe flooding & heavy winds which we are still being effected by. Businesses are still trying to get back to normal and many homeowners homes are flooded and having to be gutted. The one good thing that came from Irma for the east coast of Florida was a week of non stop pumping surf right in our own backyards.
It's pretty special when you feel like your on a surf trip right at home!
The collection below gives a look into my days chasing hurricane Irma & Jose swells around North Florida. Enjoy the series & feel free to share :)
Eden Lange on one of the most perfect waves I've seen in our neck of the woods in quite some time. Yeahhhhhh Eden!
Ya Can't win them all...
After a solid week of swimming around shooting pumping surf right here in our backyard, i'm feeling beat up, sore, and ready for Maria to bring more :)
I hope everyone enjoyed the series. Remember to give proper credit if any images are used on social media etc.
